Islamic Center of Alameda’s Health and Social Services (ICAHSS) committee’s mission is to obtain a healthy society by promoting the economic, social, emotional, physical and environmental well being of individuals, families, neighborhoods and the community. We provide services for Alameda residents and for Muslims in the larger Bay Area.

The ICAHASS Free Clinic subcommittee is exploring the possibility of offering free health care to the population in the community that do not have access or cannot afford medical insurance.  Currently in its planning stages, this subcommittee is assessing the needs of the community, the breadth and scope of establishing such a program, and the availability of volunteer health practitioners who are willing to commit to this much needed service.

The ICAHSS Helping Hands subcommittee is designed to offer support services to Bay Area Muslims that are need of help and are unable to meet their own needs. Such services will include Visiting the sick, transportation assitance for appointments and prescription pick up, Meal assistance and delivery, Disaster preparedness and keeping in touch with ailing or homebound members of our community.

The ICAHSS Wellness and Resources subcommittee gathers and provides health and wellness related referals to our community and will host various health-related workshops including topics covering i.e. financial, legal, marriage, employment, nutrition, fitness, heart attack/stroke, obesity, drug/alcohol abuse, child abuse / domestic violence.
